So Many Hobbies, So Little Time

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I’ve never understood how people can be bored. When my son utters those immortal words I’m so quick to reel off a list as long as my arm of things for him to do. In fact, I have so many hobbies myself that the eternal struggle is which to do, rather than what to do.

As a Stay At Home Mom, I have to split my day into sections otherwise, I end wasting my day away. I was given a piece of advice by a fellow blogger/bullet journalist, that if we don’t take our roles as household managers seriously, no one else will. Therefore it’s important to me to set ‘working’ hours, take a lunch break, and ‘clock off’ for the evening.

By doing this, I’ve freed up a chunk of time in the evening where I can concentrate on spending time with my husband or pursuing various hobbies, back to the point of this post.

Like most people, I have a few TV shows that I enjoy and will make time in the week to catch up with these, but I don’t usually spend hour upon hour watching TV every day. I like to multitask when I have the TV on anyway. My favourite way to do this is to cross stitch. I’m still working on the Beauty and the Beats cross stitch that I started last year. I hardly working on it at all over the winter. It’s coming along nicely, if slower than anticipated.

I love details and colours in these Thomas Kinkade pieces

I’m also trying to read more. My current book is Half A War by Joe Abercrombie, the final part of the Shattered Sea trilogy. I’m enjoying it, but I’m just not reading it as much as I used to. I want to finish soon though because a friend of mine published her debut novel earlier in the year and I’m yet to read it. By the way… here comes the shameless promotion bit. The book is called The Heaven Corporation and it’s by A.A.Frias. She has a blog on WordPress, and is active on most social media platforms. The book is available in hard copy on Amazon as well as in digital copy for Kindle. Once I get around to reading it I’ll definitely do a review post.

The biggest draw on my hobby time the past couple of weeks has been very much long awaited and highly anticipated. The newest release in the Legend of Zelda series, Breath of the Wild! I’ve been a fan of Zelda games since playing Link to the Past with my dad as a child, so it holds a very dear place in my heart and the newest release was destined to become part of my collection. I’m not very far into the game, though, it has a totally different dynamic and game mechanic than any other Zelda game before so is taking a bit of getting used to.

I’ve also decided to teach myself a few new kinds of jewellery making. I had intended on making a few different kinds of bracelets and selling them either at craft fairs or on Etsy. I already have a few safety pin beaded bracelets made ready in stock, but now I’m learning how to make Shamballa and other braided bracelets. Hopefully, this hobby will earn me a few pennies. I’m not expecting much, but who knows, it could become a decent business if only I put the effort in.

I got these books from The Works for £2 each

Oh, and let’s not forget all the adult colouring books I’ve got and films I’ve got to watch, and board games I want to play. It’s a busy life!

Apologies for the late upload, and until next time, guys

Jen
